Abstract
An approach to the time-equivalent sampling technique in time-domain measurements of transient pulses is presented in this work. An application in fluorescence spectroscopy is mention and the sampling processes as well as the different sampling techniques are briefly studied. The approach makes use a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and a Personal Computer (PC) to demonstrate the technique. The DSP communicates with the computer via a standard serial port to receive commands and to transmit data. In addition to the sampling technique, the DSP also applies a method of noise suppression by averaging the sampled digital signal. A control program was developed in the graphical language G of LabVIEW 6.1 to register and plot the time-resolved pulse. Whit this approach we are able to resolve pulses with a time resolution of 16.66ns and a bandwidth of 1.25MHz
