Abstract :
The extent to which one single reference spectrum can predict annual energy output from concentrator triple junction solar cells has important implications for the standardization of concentrator test conditions. The annual energy output from an InGaP/InGaAs/Ge concentrator system is calculated in detail, assuming continuously changing atmospheric conditions and seasonal variation. These calculations place bounds on the accuracy of estimates of annual energy output based on standard concentrator reference spectra.
