Abstract :
We demonstrate a directly modulated 2.5 Gbit/s/spl times/16-channel wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission system over 640-km of single-mode fiber using DCF. The capacity of this system was increased to 130 Gbit/s by replacing twelve directly modulated 2.5-Gbit/s channels with externally modulated 10-Gbit/s channels.
