Abstract
Miniature cables were extruded using a true triple or three-in-one extrusion technique, and their performance under accelerated water tree tests was compared to that of a full-size cable. Standard test conditions were used. The cable degradation process was monitored by measuring the AC breakdown strength as a function of the aging time. High-frequency cable life testing was also initiated and is being continued. The miniature cables have been shown to be useful in comparing the dielectric performance of different insulation and semiconductive compounds for power cables
