Abstract
Simulation results for a new dual-band antenna element suitable for wide-angle scan phased arrays are presented. The antenna element is a hybrid of microstrip and waveguide radiating structures. Preliminary design simulations of the antenna design aimed to achieve an upper to lower frequency ratio of 1.3. Computed results indicate that the antenna radiates efficiently at both frequency bands. The geometry offers enough flexibility to adjust the range of lower and upper frequencies of operation. Both linear and circular polarizations can be realized.
