Abstract :
Current driven Electrical Impedance Tomography systems become inadequate at higher frequencies. Voltage driven systems however are very well suited to operate correctly at those frequencies. Therefore the MICAS-EIT system is presented as an example of a voltage driven EIT system. Experiments have confirmed the feasibility of this approach. The MICAS Open EIT software which runs on IBM-compatible computers offers the possibility to control and process the data gathered by the hardware and provides the clinician with a user friendly graphical interface. The main differences between current driven and voltage driven EIT systems for high frequency applications are also discussed and a comparison with the authors´ EIT system is made
