Abstract :
An extremely large 3-dB gain-bandwidth of 83 nm (185.8-195.3 THz) is achieved using Raman amplifier. The Raman amplifier consists of 70-km dispersion shifted fiber (transmission fiber) and a practical 1550-nm CW laser diode pump. 96 times10 Gb/s wavelength division-multiplexing (WDM) transmission is successfully demonstrated using 83-nm gain-band amplifiers as in-line amplifiers
