Abstract :
The effect that an incident circularly polarised wave has on a printed resonant dipole reflect-array positioned one quarter wavelength above a ground plane is studied. For a regularly organised array with 0.6λ element spacing, it is shown that the reflected signal has the same hand of polarisation as the incident signal. While for random dipole orientation, it is shown that the hand of incident polarisation can be reversed upon reflection. By this means, a new methodology for polarisation switching with potential for RCS modification is forthcoming.
