Abstract
In this paper, a new multi-resonator antenna fed by a microstrip line for dual-frequency applications is proposed and experimentally studied. A novel antenna scheme, where a rectangular patch surrounded by a second rectangular patch, is used to generate two resonant modes. With this approach, two frequency-bands were obtained. In order to examine the performance of this antenna, a prototype was designed, fabricated and measured. Measured results were compared with those simulated by High Frequency Structure Simulation (HFSS) software package of Ansoft and a good agreement was obtained. The antenna resonates at 2.3 GHz with a bandwidth of 36% (for return loss < -10 dB) and at 5.5 GHz with a bandwidth of 17%. With this performance, the proposed antenna can be used in PCS/IMT 2000 and ISM bands.
