Abstract :
The Frequency Management Advisory (FMA), a computer program that is used by communication system operators to select radio frequencies and equipment on board the Airborne Battlefield Command and Control Center III (ABCCC), is described. It is an integral part of the automated decision support provided to the operators to assist in managing and using an extensive suite of airborne communication assets. The FMA analyzes the RF interference which can occur on board the ABCCC because of the large number of radios simultaneously in use. The FMA addresses potential interference problems inherent in the equipment configuration and frequency assignment, e.g., the cosite problem. By analyzing RF and antenna assignments, the FMA predicts which equipment and frequency combinations may cause problems on the ABCCC platform. The problem may be identified in advance of usage so that it may be avoided. In cases of unplanned events, problems are analyzed in near real-time so that corrective actions may be taken as soon as possible
