Abstract
It is noted that grain farmers on the prairies could be more efficient with an adoption of certain techniques and technologies which could reduce their inputs by as much as one half. This change to new technologies will take time and will proceed in a progressive step-by-step fashion. Computers and tractor positioning technology are the key elements to this change. The author speculates on the sequence of these changes that will introduce automatic field operations and their subsequent impact
