            Abstract :
The distribution of multiple high-fidelity audio signals over distances up to several kilometers has potential applications in commercial and institutional settings. A fiber-optic system for six channels is described. The system employs time division multiplexing to transmit six audio signals over a single optical fiber. The transmission circuitry is simplified by the use of a second fiber to transmit the system clock frequency. The system is designed for a frequency response of 100 Hz-20 kHz ±1 dB over a minimum range of 1 km. A prototype of the design was assembled and preliminary tests indicated satisfactory performance
