Abstract :
The propagation aspects of a creepage discharge in transformer oil have been observed in detail under a positive impulse voltage condition, by means of a high-speed Schlieren optical system, a LED current measurement system and a charge quantity measurement method using a condenser. In the present paper especially the influence of the sort and the thickness of insulating barriers in a point-plane electrode geometry, and of the electric field direction to the barrier surface in a parallel plane electrode gap with protruding point, on the propagation of the creepage discharge, is discussed
