Abstract :
Several channel-degrading effects are present in dynamic reconfigurable wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) systems and networks. These effects must be addressed by tunable methods so that signals do not fade with time. The relevant issues to be addressed include; dispersion compensation, power equalization, PMD compensation, and EDFA gain flattening and transient control.
