Abstract
A 1-V level operation, 150-mW, 59-cc card-size optical network unit (ONU) with the battery backup time of 5 hrs or more continuous ONU operation from one AAA-size cell, was developed for 50-Mbit/s synchronous transfer mode passive double star (STM-PDS) optical subscriber systems.
