Abstract :
The body sideslip angle (BSA) is the most important parameter to describe vehicle stability performance. By now, no sensor could measure BSA directly in mass production vehicles. The paper explains how to directly measure BSA by application of GPS attitude determination technology. The vehicle stability controller is designed based on sliding mode control theory and the information measured by GPS system. The control effect of the controller is verified under various operation conditions such as the lane change by means of Carsim software.
