Abstract :
This paper introduces the partial discharge mechanism of power transformers and on such a basis, establishes an equivalent circuit model. In this paper, we take the partial discharge source as the equivalent of a second order differential circuit composed by resistors, inductors and capacitors, and the moment that partial discharge happens as the moment to power up the circuit. In the process from transient state to steady one, the circuit current appears to decay exponentially, So does the partial discharge signal. This coincidence proves the validity of the equivalent circuit model.
