Abstract :
Gamut extension algorithm which maps from the standard gamut to the device gamut is applied in wide-gamut displays to avoid color distortion and exert display advantage. A gamut extension method based on RGB space is proposed. The algorithm first transforms the standard RGB value to device RGB value, and then extends the gamut with saturation ratio of gamut boundaries and a nonlinear function which reduces the over-painted problem. Gamut extension experiments on sampling points and images are carried out, and the average hue difference is 0.053, and the CCI increase is 22.6%.
