Abstract
In this paper second order statistics of the SIR (signal-to-interference ratio) are derived in the presence of cross correlated shadowing components. An analytical approach is proposed that extends to second order statistics the Wilkinson´s approximation method for the power sum of log-normal components. The method is used to evaluate the outage occurrence rate for various propagation scenarios, characterized by different shadowing correlation decay distances and cross-correlations among shadowing components. Simulation results are then used to validate the analysis
