Abstract :
As for deep space exploration, the fundamental problem is the enormous path loss due to the vast distance. International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has allocated Xband and Ka-band for deep space exploration. However, it can be confirmed that, these frequency bands are not always the most efficient bands for the deep space exploration, especially in the deep space communications with the increasing of the tremendous distance. In this paper, deep space communications with variable frequency are presented instead of traditional fixed frequency communications. Simulation results show that fully utilizing the frequency domain resources will achieve link margin about 3.8 dB. Meanwhile, the array antenna for deep space communications with variable frequency are presented in this paper.
