Abstract :
Scheduling issues in the medium access control (MAC) layer in an UTMS radio network are presented and analyzed. Several scheduling algorithms are therefore proposed. Their performance has been tested with the help of an MAC simulator. The simulator involves MAC protocol functions and parts of the physical and radio link control (RLC) layer radio interface protocols. In order to assess the impact of the proposed algorithms on the overall system behavior, a number of procedures located in the network side of a WCDMA radio network are included in the simulator. The uplink transmission is considered in the simulations done. An evaluation of scheduling algorithms for dedicated channels is performed; results are shown and analyzed
