Abstract
We investigate the possibility of obtaining better estimates or predictions of the path loss between a mobile and the surrounding base stations (BS) by processing more measurements, including "older" measurements of received power that are not used by currently deployed algorithms. We show that better performance is achievable for a wide range of mobile velocities without actually attempting to estimate the velocity directly or indirectly This is achieved at the expense of additional processing at the serving BS only
