Abstract :
The hierarchical cellular structure (HCS), which describes a system where at least two types of cells (e.g. macrocell and microcell) operate one upon another had been introduced to increase the teletraffic capacity and for the efficient use of frequency resource. For wireless multimedia services of IMT-2000 systems, we must consider the mixed traffic environment where there are two or more traffic classes in each cell. We evaluated the performance of embedded microcell with multiple class traffic in a CDMA overlaid/underlaid macrocell and microcell structure. Performance measures such as blocking probability, throughput and capacity with the optimal power allocation are obtained in the downlink through computer simulation
