Abstract :
We propose a new transmission power control (TPC) scheme called zone-based power control (ZPC). The proposed ZPC scheme employs a mechanism that controls both the power and rate of high-rate data traffic according to the location distribution of mobile stations. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme yields a significant performance improvement compared with the conventional TPC scheme in terms of the power consumption, service coverage and the traffic throughput of portables
