Abstract :
This paper presents a new phase shifting transformer which is applied in multipulse diode/SCR rectifiers. Comparison of operational characteristics of a conventional phase shifting transformer and the proposed transformer was studied. Results show that the new phase shifting transformer can not only reduce greatly the harmonics of the grid side currents, grid side voltages and the load side voltages, but also dramatically improve its operational parameters including voltage, current, apparent power, and power factor. Simulation results verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
