Abstract :
Our endeavor in this paper is to provide a reliable, efficient and intelligent module which would satisfy two purposes: (1)automatic transmission (AT); and (2)vehicle for specially abled (VFSA), is module would be associated with the automobile in the case of AT. In case of VFSA the module will be helpful for transportation of these people in a separately designed vehicle. The basic principle we use is the detection of an obstacle by an ultra sound detector (USD). Calculating the distance between the vehicle, obstacle and depending on whether an obstacle is present or not, a pulse is sent to either the motor for acceleration or to the braking system respectively. Thus in both the modes when obstacle is not detected the speed is increased using the timer and ASM circuit. When the obstacle is detected the pulse is sent to the electropnuematic converter which converts voltage to pressure and the pressure is applied to the piston of the braking system and the automobile/ vehicle comes to a halt. The ESC is also used to improve the vehicles control by detecting and preventing skids if the braking time is very less. Thus it gives or produces maximum safety to the user in both the modes. The maximum speeds of operation in both the modes are given in the form of table: The greatest aspect of the module is its maximum efficiency and low cost. It is also simple in construction.
