Abstract :
Osteoporosis is the most common bone disorder in the USA. The authors evaluated the effectiveness of two experimental drugs, an arylpropionic acid (RS-Ketoprofen) and prostoglandin E2 (PGE2) in reducing the bone loss due to osteoporosis. Results of mechanical testing of long bones of ovariectomized rats of control groups and those treated with these drugs showed that a combination of these two drugs could be effective in reducing bone loss due to estrogen deficiency and maintain the mechanical integrity of the skeletal system.
