Abstract
A new speech compression method named DAM coding is proposed, in which the time length is taken as coding object, and a new type of vocoder is devised based on DAM. The principle and procedure of encoder and decoder are discussed in detail. Finally, experiment and analysis reveal that the DAM vocoder has many attractive features which can make it potentially useful in communication applications
