Abstract :
The static var compensator (SVC) has been widely used in power systems to maintain bus voltages. More than one SVC installed in power system may interact with each other and even lead to system instability. Modal series method is applied to analyze the nonlinear interactions among the multiple SVC controllers in this paper. Moreover, by analyzing the composition of the time domain solution, a non-linear interaction index is proposed to investigate the interactions. The employed approach is applied to a 2-machine system with 2-SVC. The simulation results validate the proposed index.
