Abstract :
Tetrahedral carbon (ta-C) overcoat is deposited on disk. Nitrogen is doped in ta-C and its effect on lubricant bonding is studied. The research shows that nitrogen doping content and sp3/sp2 ratio in carbon are the two key factors to affect the bonding of lubricant with carbon overcoat, the study reveals that lubricant bonding on ta-C is much different with lubricant bonding on sputtered a-C.
