Abstract :
This paper reviews the requirements and design for a low cost residential broadband wireless access system for use in the MM-wave bands (24-42 GHz). The proposed system design is based on a downlink utilizing time division multiplexing and packet transmission using the MCNS DOCSIS standard. In the upstream direction time division multiple access is used for data packet bursts also following the MCNS DOCSIS standard. These choices are made to suit the radio propagation environment and to assure low cost of the subscriber equipment
