Abstract :
Shipping has undergone a transformation where the cultural association of shipping fleets with national identity has ceased to exist. The flagging out by ship owners has resulted in reduced transparency and accountability for the stakeholders. This paper examines the boundaries and role of corporate sustainability in the shipping industry and assesses its role in the accountability process.
