Abstract :
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is expected to remain a good choice in many consumer electronics and portable devices due to its various advantages. Built-in devices, such as speakers, in notebook PC are one of the major vibration sources causing performance problems of HDD. The effects of air borne and structural borne oscillating forces, generating from speakers, acting on HDD are investigated by experiments and simulation. The effects of stiffness and damping ratio of HDD supporters in notebook PC are analyzed by verified FEM models.
