Abstract :
The public participation GIS for intelligent transportation plays an important role in urban transportation planning and decision-making. This paper presents an infrastructure for constructing the web based public participation GIS service for collecting intelligent transportation information. The system uses a multi-tiered J2EE architecture. The geographical interface is constructed by a java GIS applet in the web pages. The system factions include the web services for collecting, issuing, interchanging and sharing the geo-referenced transportation information. Experiments show that the system can provide a visual GIS environment to meet the practical need in the processes of urban intelligent transportation information collection. It could have an important application prospect in the fields of the urban intelligent transportation planning.
