Abstract :
In this paper, the SER performance of a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relay network with beamforming over Rayleigh fading channels is analyzed, where the source, relay and destination are all equipped with multiple antennas. We first derive the optimal beamforming weight vectors to maximize the received SNR at the destination. Then, we present closed-form expressions for the probability density function and moment generating function of the maximum received SNR, based on which, an exact SER expression for the relay system of an M-PSK constellation is developed. Finally, computer simulations show that the theoretical formula is highly consistent with the Monte Carlo experimentation result, and performance improvement is achieved through multi-antennas at the relay.
