Abstract
In this paper an attempt has been made to study the dynamics of a single phase to three phase cycloconverter (CC) under transient conditions using a software package Pspice. Detailed waveforms of load voltage, load current and current of various SCRs have been obtained with the help of CC model. CC has been loaded with rated load having different time constants. It had been found that the load can be classified into two categories depending on natural commutation of current from one converter to the other. The converter currents commutate in a natural way for loads having L/R ranging 0\n\n\t\t
