Abstract :
Energy consumption is a major concern of industrial companies including power plants. So, precise information about this issue is vital. Gas flow metering is an important tool for the purpose and optical methods are new approaches in this field. This paper develops a new method for metering flow of natural gas in power plants´ pipes based on an optical approach and an innovative digital signal processing algorithm. It will be shown that using this method, an accuracy of 0.6% in a full flow range of 100 m/s is achievable.
