Abstract
This paper presents two cost optimization approaches to designing large scale wideband arrays based on different sparse array techniques. It addresses the question that, if only N elements are affordable, what is the optimal configuration to achieve maximum effective area over a wideband, and what are the consequences for side lobe levels.
