Abstract
Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems, characterized by multiple antenna elements at the transmitter and receiver, have demonstrated the potential for increased capacity in rich multipath environments. However, the performance of a MIMO link is very much dependent on the radio channel characteristics and the antenna design at the base station and the mobile terminal. This paper presents a stochastic model which is developed for modelling the polarisation conversion in MIMO channels by using the Poincare method for representing polarisation states on a sphere.
