Abstract :
Efficient storage and retrieval is a critical problem in medical image databases. Wavelet Packet Decomposition combines facilities for these and adequate denoising as well. However, it presents a broad combination of factors that should be analyzed to check their adequacy for the type of image in focus. In order to provide adequate background, results of different types of thresholds and levels of decomposition are tested using diverse wavelet families with various vanishing moments. To evaluate the noise level dependence three values of Gaussian noise levels are considered. A new threshold method and a scheme to storage-denoising-reconstruction aiming the best quality of the images, is proposed.
