Abstract :
The continued dry weather usually caused the increasing risk of flashover of the transmission line insulators. But there is still a lack of effective means to deal with this specific risk, because the rule of pollutant accumulation is still not fairly known. This paper pointed that the global climate changes in the characteristics of abnormal in recent years. And based on that, the limitations of the existing means of preventing pollution flashover are proved. To bring on the new method which is called dynamic prediction of contamination deposit, the rules of natural contamination deposit of transmission line insulators is studied and some tests on natural contamination accumulation are made in Guangdong province of China. Using this new method, the amount of contaminant deposit can be forecasted right so that the maintenance of insulators can be taken just in time, and the insulation selection and dimensioning can be taken according to the speed of natural contaminants accumulating. The research of the paper is innovative to the study on pollution flashover of insulators.
