Abstract
IEC 61850 is a recently created international standard initially developed for communication networks and systems in substations. However IEC 61850 provides a very flexible solution framework for automation applications outside of the substation as well. This presentation describes how IEC 61850 concepts can be applied for outdoor feeder automation applications.
