Abstract
This paper describes the need to interconnect the isolated electric grid in the state of Baja California Sur to the Mexican interconnected electrical system by means of a submarine cable. For this purpose, two technologies are considered: HVDC classic and HVDC light. Relevant results from an initial feasibility study are presented, along with system performance with both alternatives.
