Abstract
In stressed power systems nonlinear effects are of great importance for capturing infrequent phenomena. The authors investigate the bistable behavior of a power system which is due to nonlinearity of the system. The results obtained reveal the existence of two stable states (one is steady-state and the other is periodic) under the fixed parameter of interest. Depending on the perturbation, the system operating condition will be attracted to either fixed point or periodic
