  • Abstract
    As the complex characteristics of underwater acoustic communication channel, the underwater acoustic communication data rate is limited. In order to realize the underwater voice communication, the required speech data compression rate should be much higher. So we select TLV320AIC12 and AMBE-3000 to realize the design of voice codec module. The TLV320AIC12 is a high-performance A/D & D/A chip with programmable input and output gain control, and AMBE-3000 is the latest vocoder which is based on the AMBE voice compression algorithm. Using this designed module, the call voice is clear and legible at the rate of 2.0~2.4kbps which is a very low compression bit rate. The system features flexible speech coding rate, high cost-effective, low power consumption and many other advantages, which will build a good hardware platform for the long-distance underwater speech communication.
