            Abstract : 
We have proposed a simple and nondestructive method to measure the cold cavity loss of an operating laser by measuring the relaxation oscillation frequencies for various pumping powers. And, the cold cavity loss of a mode-locked Er-doped fiber ring laser measured by this method was 15 dB.
