Abstract :
A SPICE subcircuit model for Zener and avalanche diodes which can simulate the operation of these devices over wide ranges of current and temperature, using a single set of parameters and a SPICE.TEMP statement, is described. The model is believed to be compatible with most SPICE-based circuit simulators, since it was designed to run in version 2G.6 of Berkeley SPICE. Although the emulation of a single component with a subcircuit of up to seven components may seem overly complex, in many cases the increased accuracy and ease of use will overshadow the increase in circuit complexity
