  • Abstract
Pseudo ternary coding is a way to encode binary data into signals of three levels say, V, 0, -V. Line coding ensures that the encoded data is suitable for transmission on the channel. There are various line coding techniques, some of which provide distinctive advantage in terms of synchronization capabilities, eliminating the DC component, reducing the Baud rate and so on. We propose pseudo ternary line code technique that transmits large data in comparably lesser number of encoded symbols i.e it improves the baud rate. The code uses the concept of sending different block of bits simultaneously on the same channel. This paper analysis this new algorithm and compares it with two popular line coding technique Alternate Mark Inversion and 8B6T. We have analysed two cases. In the first case we have kept the size of the block of bits fixed and observed the improvement in baud rate for increasing message bits.In the second case we gradually increase the block size to observe the improvement for a fixed message size. The improvement varies from 33%-50% in comparision to AMI and from 8%-28% over 8B6T.
