Abstract
In this paper, unconditionally stable finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method in cylindrical system is developed to analyze signal transmission/reception from electrically small antennas under measurement-while-drilling (MWD) environment. Crank-Nicholson scheme is applied in FDTD method to overcome the stability condition imposed by the Courant limit, hence improving the computational efficiency. Numerical examples are used to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
