Abstract :
The scattering and absorbing of electromagnetic radiation by very thin metal wires was investigated. The NiCr and Pt wire (diameter 15 mum) was placed in rectangular waveguide with wave H10. The extinction and reflection from wire was measured, and the efficiency factors of scattering and absorbing was calculated. The measuring was doing in frequency range 3...18 GHz (the wave-length in waveguide was 2...28 cm). The cross-sections of scattering and absorbing were increased with increasing of wave-length and were reached of values, which were in several hundreds more than diameter of wires.
